About Spinach
Spinach has many different nutrients that help specifically magnesium, iron, vit k, zinc, and calcium. Athletes often don't get enough of these nutrients and these nutrients are important for performance. Endurance athletes are particularly susceptible to iron deficiencies especially females and female athletes are at high risk for calcium deficiency as well. One study on collegiate female athletes found 84% to have inadequate calcium intake (DellaValle and Haas, 2011).
