Vitamin D helps prevent the occurence of type 1 diabetes through infant and maternal consumption, but is indicated to be beneficial in treatment as well (Mathieu and Badenhoop, 2005; Young et al., 2011). Bovine colostrum (pre-milk substance) and yogurt are rich in vitamin D and calcium which help reduce risk of Type 2 diabetes. Yogurt is the best dairy option aside from colostrum (Díaz-López et al., 2016; Gijsbers et al., 2016; O’Connor et al., 2014).
