Olive oil has anti-inflammatory properties in part due to its high content of omega-3s. Olive oil is such a strong anti-inflammatory that its phytochemical activity is similar to ibuprofen's especially the chemical oleocanthal in olive oil (Beauchamp et al., 2005; Lucas, Russell, and Russell, 2011).
